The May Troop 175 camping trip was a backpacking trip to Mt. Greylock ( Elev. 3,491) in northwestern MA. The Mt. Greylock campground has been converted to backpacking use only. With ample capacity consisting of numerous individual sites and seven group sites, it offered a unique opportunity for the entire troop to go on a backpacking trip. This was a great trip for new Scouts who wanted to get many requirements signed off on Tenderfoot, Second and First Class.
The scouts were able to practice and improve their outdoor skills, including orienteering, bear avoidance, water filtration, and backpack menu planning. Many scouts and their adult leaders summitted Mt. Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts.
