Troop 175 Takes To The White Water

BSA Troop 175, based in Simsbury CT, in May road the spring high water release in West Forks, Maine, to conquer the Class I-IV rapids of the Kennebec River.

The scouts and their adult leaders started at Harris Station Damn where they put in to the Kennebec River for the start of a 12-mile journey down the rapids. The first portion was challenging and exciting as they encounter rapids up to Class III and IV. This was followed by a “calmer” portion of the river where body surfing and floating next to the rafts was possible.

Following the rafting adventure, the group enjoyed a cook-out lunch to replenish their energy. Following lunch, they headed out on a short hike to the 92 ft high Moxie Falls for some beautiful views. After the hike, the group returned to camp for some rest and relaxation.

You can view photos from the event in the Troop 175 Photo Library.
