Simsbury’s Troop 175 introduces new scouts to camping

DSC_0344Recently 23 young men crossed over from cub scouts to become boy scouts and choose to join Boy Scout Troop 175 based at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. At Hidden Valley Scout Camp in New Hampshire, Troop 175 welcomed our new Scouts to camping as a boy scout. The older scouts introduced them to basic camping skills and scout knowledge through a series of activities like playing capture the flag, survival skills training and patrol competitions.

The troop was also joined by scouts from Troop 8 in Hartford. All the scouts, and their adult chaperones has a great time enjoying cold but clear weather.

The trip culminated with a closing campfire on Saturday night before everyone heading off to their tents and cabins or scout-built survival shelters.

Check out the photos from the trip in the Troop 175 Photo Library.
